counseling background
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (#12555) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (#755762). I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from UNC Chapel Hill. I completed a Master of Science degree in Counseling from UNC Greensboro, a top two nationally ranked program at the time of graduating. During the master’s program, I completed a counseling internship at Wake Forest University. After gaining the counseling qualifications and starting work in private practice, I received a Doctor of Philosophy degree at UNC Greensboro, specializing in Sport and Exercise Psychology. I am fortunate to have a decade and counting of experience working with clients, much of that time being in private practice. It is a privilege to be in this position to partner with clients as a part of their journeys forward. I value helping clients resolve current concerns, as well as past issues that can impact daily life. I use Person-Centered, Cognitive-Behavioral, and Solution-Focused Therapy frameworks and techniques to help clients work toward making and maintaining positive changes.
performance background
I was introduced to the field of sport psychology through my athletic involvement and academic interests during my time at UNC Chapel Hill. During my undergraduate career, I was fortunate to play under elite, esteemed coaches and with a great group as part of the UNC JV Basketball team. My interest in sport psychology led to a desire to study counseling; after completing a master’s in counseling, I went on to complete a doctoral program studying sport and exercise psychology, working alongside prominent professors in the field, and blending my passions for both counseling and sport psychology. In addition to general counseling sessions, I work with athletes and other individuals to address sport performance concerns and other performance-related issues. I am glad to have several years of experience working with athletes in private practice.
